Pinot Blanc – Estate Wine from Weingut Wittmann
The Wittmann Pinot Blanc 2023 from Weingut Wittmann impresses with its delicate spice and excellent drinkability. The 2023 Pinot Blanc Estate Wine stays on the fine lees for a long time and is mostly aged in large oak barrels. This creates a Burgundy-style Pinot, mature and finessed on the palate, which, in addition to aromas of fresh, yellow fruits and light roasted notes, also shows floral and herbaceous nuances. With an animating acidity, the body presents itself elegantly and shows a long, salty and mineral finish.
Pinot Blanc – VDP.GUTSWEIN
Estate wines are the winery's calling card, which is why elegance and a refined sense of origin are particularly important to us in these wines. The grapes come from estate-owned vineyards, which are cultivated biodynamically and cared for traditionally. They are ideal food companions, and not just in their first year.
Weingut Wittmann – how wine is made
The Pinot Blanc grapes grow on the gentle hills around Weingut Wittmann in Westhofen in Rheinhessen. The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically, which not only means abstaining from chemical-synthetic agents, but above all activating soil life and mindfulness in the daily walk through the rows of vines. "Every contact is a dialogue" is how Philipp Wittmann puts it. This means intensive vineyard care throughout the year, low yields and consistent manual selection of the grapes form the basis for the high quality of the wine.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, and the must is guided into the cellar solely by gravity, without pumping. There, in traditional wooden barrels, it has time to ferment spontaneously and remains on the fine lees for a long time, which gives the wine structure. In the end, much is tasted and blended, because each wooden barrel contains only the must from a few rows of vines, until the perfect balance is found. Winemaking is a matter of mind with heart.
