Weingut Wittmann – Organic Riesling from Limestone 2023
The Riesling from Limestone 2023 from Weingut Wittmann impressively showcases its purist origins. Rich yellow Riesling fruit, fine herbal notes, candied lemon, a delicate smokiness, juicy full-bodied freshness, and a clear structure meet the typical Westhofen limestone minerality. An elegant Riesling from limestone with a strong character, salty and powerful, complex and profound. This wine simply makes you want more!

Weingut Wittmann – how wine is made
The Riesling grapes grow on the gentle hills around Weingut Wittmann in Westhofen in Rheinhessen. The vineyards are cultivated biodynamically, which means not only refraining from chemical-synthetic agents, but above all activating soil life and being mindful in the daily work through the rows of vines. "Every contact is a dialogue," as Philipp Wittmann puts it. This means intensive vineyard care throughout the year, low yields, and consistent hand selection of the grapes form the basis for the high wine quality.
After hand-picking, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is guided into the cellar without pumping, solely by gravity. There, in traditional wooden barrels, it has time to ferment spontaneously and remains on the fine lees for a long time, which gives the wine structure. In the end, much tasting and blending takes place, because each wooden barrel contains only the must from a few rows of vines, until the perfect balance is found. Winemaking is a matter of the head with heart.
