Oliver Zeter Syrah 2014 – Matured Red Wine from the Palatinate

The Oliver Zeter Syrah 2014 is fleshy on the palate, slightly smoky with notes of black olives and ripe sloes. The wine shows enormous concentration without drifting into jamminess. On the nose, the Zeter red wine from the Palatinate is fine and fresh, with subtle nuances of iron and many blue berries.

Oliver Zeter – Winemaking

As early as 2009, Oliver Zeter planted the first Syrah vineyard in Hambach, followed in 2013 by the second vineyard in the Rhodter Rosengarten site. The cuttings came directly from a vine nursery in Orange on the Rhône, whose vines are known and sought after worldwide for their outstanding quality. Both sites are characterized by their east-south orientation and by the skeletal, quickly warming soils. Perfect conditions for this heat-loving Rhône grape variety. The Guyot training system for the vines in a flat arch allows optimal access to the grape zone.

From the outset, Oliver Zeter was clear about the stylistic direction, and the motto was "Syrah", not "Shiraz"! After classic mash fermentation, the wine spent 12 months in wood and was bottled without fining or filtration. To bring out the fine Northern Rhône style, some of the stems were left with the grapes.
