Cantina Tramin – T Cuvée Red

The Cantina Tramin T Cuvée Red 2023 is a light red wine from the renowned Tramin winery, made from the Vernatsch, Merlot, and Blauburgunder grape varieties. The T Red is a special cuvée that reflects the lightness of South Tyrolean Vernatsch and the fruitiness of South Tyrolean Blauburgunder, as well as the fullness of Merlot. It is a fusion of tradition and history of South Tyrolean wine. In the glass, the T Rosso presents a ruby red color and a fruity bouquet of red berries and a hint of herbal scent. On the palate, cherry, blackberry, and blackcurrant notes reappear, making it fruity, juicy, and pleasantly light.

Lightly chilled, the T Cuvée Rosso is a good accompaniment to appetizers and cold platters, and it pairs well with typical Tyrolean dishes, but also with pizza, pasta, and grilled foods.

Cantina Tramin – Winemaking

A mild, low-precipitation winter with plenty of sunshine was followed by a dry March in the 2023 vintage year, resulting in a comparatively early budbreak. Although spring was rather cool and rainy, June saw a mix of hot sunny days and rainfall. A hot summer and a rainy start to September demanded a lot of work from the winemakers. Fortunately, the weather gods blessed South Tyrol with a golden autumn, providing ideal conditions for the grape harvest. Thanks to targeted work in the vineyard, as well as the experience and care of the cooperative members of the Cantina Tramin, the numerous challenges of the 2023 vintage year were masterfully overcome. The white wines of the 2023 vintage are cool and delicate, captivating with juicy freshness and crispness. The red wines, including the T Cuvée Red, distinguish themselves with elegance and finesse.

The vines for this Cantina Tramin T Cuvée Red are grown on calcareous and gravelly clay soils on hillsides between 250 and 550 m above sea level. The grapes were harvested at the time of their optimal physiological ripeness and transported to the winery building in small containers. There, the must is fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (26 – 28°C); aging and storage also take place in steel tanks.

Die traditionsreiche Kooperative Kellerei Tramin wurde 1898 gegründet und zählt heute 300 familiengeführte Mitgliedsbetriebe. Auf 270 ha gedeihen elf Rebsorten auf Lehm-, Kalk- und Vulkanböden in Höhen von 250–850 m. Kellermeister Willi Stürz prägt seit 20 Jahren besonders den Gewürztraminer-Stil. Ein 2010 errichtetes, nachhaltiges Kellereigebäude mit Vinothek lädt Besucher ein, mit Blick auf den Kalterer See zu genießen.
