The Flein Fizz is a sparkling grape juice from South Tyrol, complex yet light-footed, a worthy non-alcoholic alternative to a glass of wine. In the glass, the Muscato and Sauvignon Blanc juice from the Kurtatsch winery is a brilliant straw yellow, with varietal aromas of yellow apple and fresh grapes, as well as notes of mace, yellow rust and orange zest. On the palate, it shows refined acidity and delicate Moscato Giallo sweetness, herbaceous notes, and an invigorating effervescence.

Flein – non-alcoholic enjoyment redefined

Winery owner's daughter Veronika Mitteregger initiated Flein in her search for a non-alcoholic counterpart to wine, and had her idea of single-varietal grape juice from early-harvested grapes grown specifically for juice from the family winery Gross & Gross implemented. The success was so overwhelming that Flein is now produced by three befriended wineries in the Alpine region. Each winery (Gross & Gross, Kurtatsch winery and Schmidt winery) is responsible for production according to a jointly developed quality charter.

Flein comes from vineyards with regionally typical grape varieties that are cultivated specifically for the production of juice. The vines are tended and harvested carefully by hand. The harvested grapes are gently pressed like champagne. With an extraction rate of 55 percent, only the best part of the berry is refined into Flein. Bitterness and unripe nuances remain. Thanks to the latest technology, the juice is pasteurized very gently. As a result, Flein develops a particularly varietal taste experience and opens up new taste dimensions. Flein surprises with freshness, elegance, and lively acidity.

A connection to the terroir, sustainability, and familial down-to-earthness – these are the values that drive the young and dynamic team of the Kurtatsch winery around Harald Cronst in the south of South Tyrol. With the highest quality standards and meticulous craftsmanship, unique wines and non-alcoholic Flein grape juices are created, reflecting the unique locations. The Kurtatsch winery refines grapes from two region-typical grape varieties, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscato, into the finest juices. They grow in steep vineyards in the south of South Tyrol, specially selected for juice production.

Muscato + Sauvignon Blanc – from harvest to bottle

At the Kurtatsch winery, great importance is attached to environmentally friendly grape production to preserve the authentic taste of the terroir in the alpine-continental climate with Mediterranean influence. This applies not only to wine but especially to grape juice. The Muscato vines for this sparkling juice of the Flein line grow on sand and gravel soils, rich in dolomite, on steep slopes between 350-450 m above sea level. For the balanced sweetness-acidity ratio, the correct choice of parcel and the early harvest time are crucial to preserve freshness, elegance, and lively acidity.
