Questions about Merlot Cabernet Curtis – 2023?

We are happy to help you with Cantina Kurtatsch.

Discover the CURTIS 2023, a red wine blend from the Kurtatsch Winery made from Merlot + Cabernet

The Kellerei Kurtatsch CURTIS Merlot Cabernet 2023 is a powerful, Mediterranean-Alpine Bordeaux blend. In this South Tyrolean red wine, Merlot (60%), Cabernet Franc (30%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) merge into an exciting cuvée, showing captivating richness and elegance. On the palate, the Curtis impresses with soft tannins contributed by the Merlot, blackcurrant fruit typical of Cabernet Sauvignon, and a peppery spice attributable to Cabernet Franc. This versatile red wine pairs excellently with game dishes, dark meat, and strong, aged cheeses.

South Tyrolean Wine Quality that Convinces

Curtis, the name of this red wine, means "a higher-lying farm" in Latin. The wine village of Kurtatsch owes its name to this term. Anyone who assumes that the international red wine varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon were only planted in South Tyrol in recent decades is mistaken. In fact, Bordeaux varieties were already planted in Kurtatsch around 1900, because optimal conditions prevail here for these heat-loving grape varieties.

This powerful, deep dark South Tyrolean red wine shows dark berry fruit of cassis and blackberries on the palate, accompanied by savory notes of pepper and juicy tannins, which give the Curtis a firm structure.

Immerse yourself in the world of first-class wines and discover a true classic from the Kurtatsch Winery, the Curtis Alto Adige DOC 2023.

  • Origin Wine from Italy
  • Growing region South Tyrol - Alto Adige DOC
  • Grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 2.5 g/l Residual sugar

The Journey of the Curtis: From Harvest to Bottle

This South Tyrolean red wine is the result of careful harvesting and masterful winemaking. At the Kurtatsch Winery, special emphasis is placed on environmentally friendly wine production, which preserves the authentic taste of the terroir. The Cabernet and Merlot vines for this red wine from the Selection line stand on red sandy-loamy soils with dolomite, clay minerals, and oxides in hilly locations between 220-400m above sea level. The grapes from small-parcel vineyards with reduced yields (70hl/ha) are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness and quickly brought in small boxes to the newly built, impressive winery in Kurtatsch. There, they were destemmed according to the specifications of winemaker Erwin Carli and gently pressed after temperature-controlled mash fermentation in stainless steel. During aging in large wooden barrels on the fine lees, the Curtis underwent malolactic fermentation.

The Kurtatsch Winery maintains a deep connection to nature and its South Tyrolean homeland. This attitude is expressed in sustainable wine production, which aims for minimal environmental impact while emphasizing the uniqueness of the terroir. The cooperative is known for its exceptional wines, which are characterized by their elegance and complexity. The Kellerei Kurtatsch Merlot Cabernet Curtis Alto Adige DOC 2023 is no exception. This wine is a testament to the winery's commitment to quality and excellence.

Bring the incomparable taste of South Tyrol home! The Kellerei Kurtatsch Merlot Cabernet Curtis 2023 is waiting for you.
