Fresh Aromas & Mineral Depth
The 2024 Riesling impresses with a bouquet of green apple, white peach notes and light citrus freshness. The distinctive minerality – hints of limestone and quartz – gives the wine tension and aesthetic depth in the finish.
Engelsberg – The Special Site
The Engelsberg in Nackenheim is one of Gunderloch's best sites. The calcareous soils provide a crystal-clear, almost salty minerality, which distinctively reflects the terroir and gives the wine structure and longevity. The VDP.ERSTE LAGE Nackenheimer Engelsberg is situated on a high plateau above the famous Roter Hang – at the same altitude as the Rothenberg. Here, the steep slopes of the Rhine banks meet the gentle transitions towards the Eichelsbachtal in the northeast. The soil is an exciting mix of calcareous topsoil from the Rotliegend and spicy red slate from the Permian period. This special combination gives the wine both a fine juiciness and a striking mineral spice. With the 2023 vintage, the Engelsberg started its first official release and an exciting debut - now here is the equally good successor vintage.
Enjoyment & Food Pairing
With 12% alcohol and a dry style, the Engelsberg Riesling is ideal as an accompaniment to fine fish dishes, seafood, grilled vegetables or even on its own for stylish enjoyment. Its clear, finessed character makes it perfect for elegant moments.
