Sattlerhof Morillon Gamlitz – Organic Chardonnay from Styria
The Sattlerhof Gamlitz Morillon 2024 is an elegant, dry Chardonnay from Styria, Austria – a Südsteiermark DAC Ortswein (regional wine).
From the start, the Gamlitz Morillon is juicy, with delicate acidity and characterized by a fine spice and memorable smokiness. Here, too, it is the blend of "vegetal" and fruity aromas that makes this wine so exciting. On the nose, aromatic hazelnuts and a fine pear fruit join a fragrant herbal note. Filigree, slender, and with a light creaminess, that's how the Sattlerhof Gamlitz Morillon appeals. The Chardonnay is a good companion to delicate braised dishes, poultry and game birds like duck, or pâtés.
Sattlerhof – Winemaking
Steep vineyards, unpredictable weather, and diverse soils are the hallmarks of the Südsteiermark wine region. The vines for this Gamlitz Morillon Ortswein from Sattlerhof grow around the three-thousand-soul community of Gamlitz. On the steep slopes at 350–450 m above sea level, 15-35 year old vines stand on crystalline quartz sands with mica.
The ripe Chardonnay grapes from our own vineyards, which are farmed sustainably and biodynamically, are selectively hand-picked. After a short maceration, the must is fermented without pumps in stainless steel tanks in the impressive, newly built cellar. Maturation also takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruitiness. A wine characterized by its terroir, quartz sand, and the cool microclimate around Gamlitz in Südsteiermark, Austria.
