Sattlerhof – Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc – from Southern Styria
The Sattlerhof Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc 2022 is a fragrant, dry organic white wine from Styria in Austria – a Southern Styria DAC regional wine.
From the start, the Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc is juicy, powerful, and characterized by deep spiciness. Here too, it is the blend of "vegetable" and fruity aromas that makes this wine so exciting. On the nose, citrus star fruit, exotic papaya, and wonderful paprika spice join juicy pear fruit. Powerful on the palate, complex, the wine presents itself cool, animating, and very long in the finish. The Sauvignon Blanc Gamlitz harmoniously accompanies fish dishes, pasta, risotto, and refined vegetable dishes with fennel or asparagus.
Sattlerhof – Wine Production
Steep vineyards, unpredictable weather, and diverse soils are the characteristics of the Southern Styria wine region. The vines for this Gamlitz Sauvignon Blanc regional wine from Sattlerhof grow around the three-thousand-soul community of Gamlitz. On the steep slopes at 350–450 m above sea level, 15-35 year old vines stand on crystalline quartz sands with mica.
The fully ripe grapes from our own vineyards, which are cultivated sustainably and biodynamically, are selectively hand-picked. After several hours of maceration, the must is fermented without pumps in the impressive, newly built cellar in stainless steel tanks. Maturation also takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruitiness. A wine characterized by its terroir, quartz sand, and the cool microclimate around Gamlitz in Southern Styria, Austria.
